KZNCC seeks to employ 5 suitable candidates for the position of faith-based community health fieldworker.

Basic Job Description: To implement activities that strengthen, HIV Treatment Surge project in South Africa three 90s program. Assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviours. Conducting targeted outreach that is focussed on HIV counselling, testing, treatment and adherence. Running awareness workshops and information sharing in churches and the general public to promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health. Providing information on available resources, providing social support and counselling services. Advocating for individuals and community health needs, and providing general wellness services such as basic first aid, blood sugar level testing, blood pressure testing, and body temperature screening and have a strong referral system.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Mobilising local church congregants and general community members to administer the three 90s program.
  • Promoting church based facilities for HIV services and rolling out widespread HIV counselling, testing and treatment processes as planned.
  • Sharing information and advising church members and community groups on issues related to wellness, especially HIV testing, breast cancer screening, blood pressure testing, blood sugar testing and diabetes screenings, treatment and health management.
  • Supporting churches and communities to form HIV and Aids support groups as well as HIV treatment adherence groups.
  • Facilitating community workshops on health issues related to risk or prevention of conditions such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), prenatal substance abuse, or domestic violence.
  • Identifying the particular health care needs of individuals in a community or target area and taking appropriate action.
  • Maintaining updated client records with plans, notes, appropriate forms, or related information.
  • Advising community groups on issues related to HIV prevention, good diet and hygiene.
  • Networking and advocating for individual and community health needs with government agencies or health service providers.
  • Attending church community meetings to understand community health issues and building relationships with community members, and creating demand for HIV testing.
  • Distributing flyers, brochures, or other informational or educational documents to inform members of a targeted community.
  • Accompanying some community members to scheduled health appointments or referral sites for the needed health services.
  • Collecting information from individuals to compile vital statistics about the general health of community members in the specific District

Relevant education and experience requirements:

  1. At least a matric certificate.
  2. Minimum 1 year of experience in implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS treatment and care programs.
  3. General knowledge of health, HIV treatment and care dynamics in KwaZulu-Natal.
  4. Good organizing and planning skills.
  5. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Personal Skills

  1. Strategic thinking and problem-solving and ability to approach people engaging them in discussions about HIV and Aids and other health issues.
  2. Ability to relate to people at all levels all age groups, all gender groups, all racial groups.

Required Languages: English and IsiZulu

All-inclusive annual remuneration – R43 200

KZNCC seeks to employ a suitable candidate for the position of Provincial HIV and Aids Program Manager.

Job Summary: As Program Manager you will work as part of a team on a provincial project and provide oversight of a key function of the Faith-based Organizational Capacity Strengthening, HIV Treatment Surge project in South Africa to serve the poor and vulnerable. Your management and technical knowledge will ensure the delivery of high-quality programming. As a senior manager you will proactively manage and administer the program planning, operations and reporting, including providing strategic assistance to 9 partner Church Based Organizations and ensure a smooth implementation of planned activities in EThekwini, UMgungundlovu and UMkhanyakude districts. You will account to the KZNCC Chief Executive Officer.

 Job Responsibilities:

  1. Set the strategic direction for the project by managing planning, operations, capacity building, information management, program monitoring and financial and narrative accounting to meet donor and beneficiaries expectations
  2. Participate in and represent KZNCC and its partners in various relevant KZN HIV and Aids platforms such as District Aids Councils (DACs) (in EThekwini, UMgungundlovu and UMkhanyakude districts),and the Provincial Aids Council (PAC).
  3. Supporting the Data Analyst to develop systems and produce comprehensive quality reporting as required.
  4.  Managing key aspects of the development, implementation and consolidation of the Faith-based Organizational Capacity Strengthening, HIV Treatment Surge project in KZN.
  5. Managing effective (radio, social, electronic and print) media and publicity as well as communication between KZNCC and all stakeholders.
  6. Assisting our partner Church based organizations in understanding and participating fully in the program and planned outcomes and outputs.
  7. Creating and maintaining proper conditions for learning and sharing of program ideas, solutions, and difficulties and the capacity to detect, analyze and respond quickly to deficiencies. Identify performance gaps and training opportunities for KZNCC and partner staff and recommend trainings and technical assistance.

 Relevant education and experience requirements:

  1. A tertiary degree or Diploma or higher certificate in Public Health, social sciences or demography is required.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS treatment and care programs.
  3. General knowledge of health, HIV treatment and care dynamics in KwaZulu-Natal.
  4. Demonstrated experience of successful management, including management of multi-activity projects.
  5. Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment.
  6. Experience of engaging partners and strengthening partnerships, networking and facilitation of successful initiatives.
  7. Good organizing and planning skills.
  8. Demonstrated experience in verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Computer literacy in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), Web Conferencing Applications, and information and budget management systems.
  10. 10. Driving license, and ownership of a vehicle is an added advantage.
  11. 11. Knowledge of basic budgeting and financial controls.

Your coordination and technical knowledge will ensure the delivery of high-quality coordination. As a coordinator you will proactively coordinate and administer the programme workshops, trainings sessions for information sharing to 9 partner Church Based Organizations and ensure a smooth organising of activities in EThekwini, UMgungundlovu and UMkhanyakude districts.

 Job Responsibilities:

  1. Mobilising traditional leaders and traditional healers to participate in the programme through workshops, trainings, information sharing and field exposure visits
  2. Organising meetings and consultations with church leaders and academic institution to do theological reflection on health and HIV and AID
  3. In cooperation with the Programme manager, coordinating key aspects of the development, implementation and consolidation of the Faith-based Organizational Capacity Strengthening, HIV Treatment Surge project in KZN among the youth of the church in consultation with the provincial youth manager and faith based youth organisations such a Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), Youth for Christ (YfC), Africa Enterprise (AE), Scripture Union (SU) AND Student Christian Fellowship (SCF) in all tertiary institutions in KZN.
  4. Facilitating advocacy campaigns and interventions and counselling sessions with church leaders, traditional leaders and traditional healers.

 Relevant education and experience requirements:

  1. A Diploma or higher certificate in Public Health, health, behavioral, social sciences or demography is required.
  2. Minimum 1 year experience in implementing and evaluating HIV/AIDS treatment and care programmes.
